Burlish Park Primary is a school community founded on a shared determination to do the very best we can for each and every child, regardless of their starting point.

We believe passionately in providing the best possible learning experiences, to ignite curiosity and develop the learning skills that make our children independent, motivated and successful learners, now and in the future.

We aim for the highest standards of attainment and progress, and children, staff and governors understand that a love of learning lies at the heart of everything we do. They are all able to talk about their learning, reflect on it and discuss ‘What next, to be even better?’

Our children thrive in a learning environment that is designed to engage and excite. We provide a creative and imaginative curriculum that opens windows into an inviting world, rich in opportunities for the children to enjoy. The focus on developing a lifelong love of learning is underpinned by rigorous attention to the development of essential skills and learning behaviours.

PE, Dance and Music are hugely important at Burlish, and our children are encouraged to participate in the wide range of musical and sporting activities, teams and clubs on offer, including before and after-school clubs. Our focus on Music has led to the highest percentage of instrumental tuition in the county, with regular opportunities to perform. Our inter-house competitions are hotly contested and range from tag rugby to photography, from dance to poetry recital.

Burlish Park Primary School is a Reading school and we strongly encourage all of our parents to hear their children read at least three times every single week. We hold regular Reading Challenges and competitions to reward children for reading at home, because we believe that the best education is provided through a successful partnership between home and school. Almost 100% of our parents attend Parent’s Evenings to find out more about how they can support their child with learning at home and at school.

There are so many wonderful opportunities throughout the year for parents to come into school and get involved, from Raft Building in year 2, to Maths workshops in Reception, Tudor House building in year 5 and Environmental activites in year 4, just to name a few.

If you really want to get involved in your child’s learning, to enable your child to be successful, then this is the school for you.
